A new Ninji Speedrun has been revealed for Super Mario Maker 2. This event, however, appears to be the last of its kind. Super Mario Maker 2 was incredibly well-reviewed when it came out in 2019, but signs are pointing to the idea that the game may be slowing down in terms of support from Nintendo, with this as the latest example.

Many players have enjoyed the speedrun content that The Big N has added to the game since launch. Late last year Nintendo added a Super Mario Bros.35th Anniversary-themed Super Mario Maker 2 Ninji Speedrun, for example, as the content helps keep the game fresh along with the user-generated levels. The one that was just announced and is currently live, however, is the game's last.

The name of the final Ninji Speedrun for Super Mario Maker 2 is Bowser's Castle: The Last Dash, a fitting name and theme for the final hoorah. Players will need to run a few laps around the castle, test their skills, and take on some challenges to complete the speedrun. The Ninji Speedrun will be live until April 27, 2021, at 7 pm PT.

The “Bowser’s Castle: The Last Dash” Ninji Speedrun will take place until 4/27 7pm PT, so be sure to check it out!

The comment section of this announcement from Nintendo is mostly filled with disappointment, as there are plenty of fans of the game who enjoy the speedrunning fun and are disappointed to hear it is coming to an end. It is interesting as Nintendo has commented that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will impact future game development, specifically the idea that of ongoing game development far beyond the games launch through multiplayer, social functionality, and more. Super Mario Maker 2 starting to lose out on some of its features seems like the opposite of that idea. With that in mind, interested players should certainly take advantage of the last Ninji Speedrun while they have the chance.
